Memorandum for Boston Pier or Long Wharf, 1798-1799.

Volume chronicles the daily business activities of George Homer, one of the proprietors and wharfingers at Long Wharf in Boston, MA. Homer held the post from 1792-1808. Long Wharf obtained its name because the wharf extended two thousand feet into Boston Harbor allowing cargoes to be loaded and unloaded without the use of smaller boats. Volume details dockage and wharfage fees for the ships, ballast purchased, cargo on board, etc. Homer's responsibilties also included supervision of the stores and wharehouses located on Long Wharf.
